In-mold labeling is a technology widely adopted by many companies. Abroad, more than half of all products already utilize in-mold labeling, and both the production of in-mold labels and the operation of corresponding labeling machines have reached a high degree of maturity. In China, the importance of in-mold labeling has been increasingly recognized in recent years. In-mold labeling (IML) is a label‑packaging format that differs from traditional labeling; its emergence has sparked a revolution in the field. Specific in-mold labels possess the following features:
In-membrane lamination It is a technology widely adopted by many enterprises. Abroad, more than half of all products already utilize in-mold labeling, and both the production of in-mold labels and the operation of labeling machines have reached a high degree of maturity. In China, the importance of in-mold labeling has been increasingly recognized in recent years. In-mold labeling (IML) is a label‑packaging format that differs from traditional labeling; its emergence has sparked a revolution in the field. Specific in-mold labels possess the following functions:

1. In-membrane lamination More aesthetically pleasing and practical. Traditional packaging methods include adhesive label printing and screen printing. Adhesive label printing lacks integration with the packaging container, while screen printing, though it addresses this issue, suffers from limited graphic richness and insufficient expressive power. In contrast, in-mold labeling avoids these drawbacks. Because the label is integrally formed with the plastic container, there is no risk of warping, delamination, damage, or curling. Additionally, it offers excellent resistance to water, oil, mold, compression, acids and alkalis, abrasion, bending, cooling, and heat, helping to maintain the label’s integrity and appearance for a longer period and enhancing the product’s perceived quality.
2. In-mold labeling refers to the entire decorative process in which, after a product is molded in an injection mold, a label is applied to the surface using an auxiliary labeling machine—via vacuum or electrostatic force—while the part remains in the mold and has not yet been ejected. Once the plastic part is formed, no additional processing is required, nor is it necessary to add labeling equipment or hire labeling personnel, thereby reducing production steps as well as intermediate handling, transportation, and storage costs.
3. In-mold labeling offers anti-counterfeiting protection. While other labeling technologies are easily replicated, in-mold labeling requires specialized molds and a systematic production process, significantly raising the barrier to counterfeiting and providing more reliable protection for brand‑conscious customers.
4. In-membrane lamination Environmental protection. In-mold labeling and container molding can be completed in a single step, preventing potential contamination of the bottle during the labeling process. The in-mold label is fully integrated with the bottle body, shares the same chemical composition, and can be recycled together, thereby increasing the recycling rate.
