There are numerous factors that can affect product quality. To ensure high-quality products, it is essential to effectively manage these factors. So, what causes quality issues in heat-transfer printing? Let’s take a closer look below.

1. Hot-stamping pressure: The hot-stamping pressure must be adjusted to an appropriate level; otherwise, excessive pressure can damage both the stamping head and the substrate, while insufficient pressure will compromise the quality of the impression. Once the optimal pressure has been set, lock the adjustment to prevent any changes during mass production.
2. Hot-stamping speed: The hot-stamping time (or speed) should be determined based on the specific material being stamped. While faster speeds generally increase production efficiency, provided that the desired stamping effect is achieved, certain products may require slower hot-stamping due to particular constraints.
3. Maintain machine cleanliness: Keep the machine’s critical components clean, free from oil and dust; ensure the thermal transfer film remains clean, free of fingerprints and dust; keep the substrate clean, free of dust and oil; and ensure the operator’s hands are clean, free of oil and sweat.
4. Hot-stamping temperature: The hot-stamping temperature significantly affects the quality of heat-transfer products. Temperatures that are too high can damage the substrate, while temperatures that are too low may fail to achieve proper transfer. The optimal temperature should be determined based on the substrate, the transfer film, and the heat-transfer machine; different materials require different settings.
When it comes to a product’s color scheme, we need to carefully coordinate the hues to ensure the colors are well‑balanced and harmonious—only then can we deliver a product that fully meets the customer’s expectations. This is especially true during the heat‑transfer printing process.
So, what are the requirements for color matching in heat-transfer printing? Let me walk you through them.
1. In heat-transfer printing, color matching refers to combining two or more colors, or supplementing the dominant hue with small amounts of adjacent colors, to create a cohesive color scheme. Before mixing inks for multicolored prints, first isolate the specific colors required by the color sample and accurately determine whether the original (or reference) colors are primary, secondary, or tertiary. If the colors are secondary or tertiary, it is essential to identify the proportion of the dominant color versus the supporting hues.
2. By blending raw inks in varying proportions, a wide range of ink colors can be produced. For light‑shade inks, white ink typically serves as the base, with appropriate colored inks added to achieve the desired hue. For example, pale blue is made by starting with white ink and adding a touch of blue (cyan); pale red is created by using white ink with a small amount of magenta; gray is formulated with white ink and a slight addition of black; and silver gray is prepared by mixing white ink with a bit of silver‑colored paste, followed by a trace of black ink.
When producing light‑colored screen‑printing inks (printing pastes) via heat‑transfer printing, minimize the use of white ink, as its high reactivity can easily cause discoloration in other colors.
